Dropbox – free fily sync, online storage, collaboration and backup tool
Today I present one of those free tools that actually works and is useful. Dropbox is a software that syncs your files online so you can effortlessly access you files anytime and anywhere.
The software’s main task is to watch a specified folder in your computer. Whatever you have placed in that folder will instantly and automatically be backed-up by the software. All you have to do is drag or copy files into your Dropbox folder on one computer, and they’ll be instantly available on any of your other computers. Dropbox automatically updates itself so you don’t need to worry about
being in sync.
Dropbox is a cross platform program, i.e. it is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, so operating system issues are not a concern. Your files are stored on Dropbox’s secure servers and you can also access them from any computer or even a mobile device via the Dropbox website.
Dropbox is not only a file syncing program, it also serves as a full back-up alternative. The free account gives you access to 2 GB of space. The Dropbox server uses SSL and AES-256 encryption before the storage so you are guaranteed that your files are safe when
being transferred.
Additionally it can support online collaboration and project management. You can share a sub-folder within Dropbox with others. Setup and rights management are very easy.
Subscription is free, sign up takes only a minute, sharing files as well. And all the time you are still working in your standard desktop.
I’m using it now for a while and I’m very happy with this tool. You can get Dropbox here.
